Spirit of the Wine
We at Namaste Vineyards believe that good wine is made in the vineyard. We allow the fruit to slowly mature to the highest quality. Our vineyard is located in the heart of Oregon's renowned Willamette Valley. We grow Chardonnay, Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and two different clones of Pinot Noir; our Abundance block which is Dijon 115 and our Prosperity block which is Pommard. All Namaste wines are made with estate grown fruit only. Work in the vineyard is done by hand, focusing on attention to details. Our vines were planted in 1980 - 1983 and we keep our crop loads down to around two tons an acre. Around color change, or verasion, we drop any fruit that isn't even or perfect. At harvest, workers are instructed to only take the fruit that is of the highest quality, and to leave the rest. Once at the winery, the fruit goes through various processes. Our whites: Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Peace, and Chardonnay are processed in two batches. Half is de-stemmed and half is pressed whole cluster to add complexity. All of the fruit is pressed very slowly and gently using a pnuematic membrane press to ensure that the seeds and stems aren't crushed which could give the wines an unpleasant bitter taste. Then, everything but the Chardonnay is cold fermented in stainless steel tanks. The Chardonnay is fermented in small french oak barrels. Our award winning Pinot Noirs are de-stemmed, then go through a cold soak where the juice sits on the skins for 7 - 10 days to obtain color. It is then pressed and aged in a combination of American, Hungarian, and Frech oak barrels to add a rich complexity to the final product. Focusing on small lots and high quality, we are seeing Namaste Vineyards rapidly grow in new markets, easily building a client base of knowledgeable consumers. Everyone needs a little Peace, Prosperity, and Abundance in their lives. Namaste. |
